In February, Manuel Oliver’s son Joaquin was killed in the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School that left 17 people dead. He’s since dedicated himself to fighting for gun reform, starting a nonprofit with his wife, Patricia, that aims to empower young activists to campaign against gun violence. I met with Oliver on graduation weekend, as his family prepared to accept their sons diploma.
